Acceptibility of accelerated programs internationally

I'm having a really hard time finding the information I'm looking for from looking at registration sites for various countries, so I'm hoping someone here can help. I'm currently finishing my bachelors degree in a non-nursing field and looking to go into nursing, and eventually the nurse practitioner route. I'm looking into accelerated programs, anywhere from 1-2 years, but I do not want to limit international opportunities in the future by doing so. Does anyone know the requirements for licensure outside the US? Specifically I'm looking at Canada, Australia, NZ, and the UK. Will I be shooting myself in the foot if I do a 1 year degree? 2 years?

Without significant work experience, EU is going to be hard to get licensed there as well as a visa to work there. Almost every country has hiring freezes in place unless one has significant work experience in an area where they have a shortage.

One year programs are not going to be accepted anyplace as one of the requirements of most boards of nursing is that the training be at least two years in an approved school of nursing to meet the requirements for licensure as well immigration.

It is going to depend entirely on your program, but have seen issues with programs less than two years be accepted by Canada. Each province sets their own requirements as well. Same as for the states in Australia.

New Zealand is actually not accepting what they call any second courser programs, they are requiring the full four year BSN to meet their requirements as well.
