The acceptance letter from one school is not going to guarantee a slot in another school. Most have a system whereby they give so many "points" for various things, including the interview.
It may be that your friend is an outstanding applicant who they know they will accept. Therefore, they give an early decision due to deadlines with other programs.
Try to relax, they know that you are not up against a deadline they have no reason to give you an early decision. If you want a date I am sure you can call and they will give you at least the week that decisions will be mailed.
I wish you the best of luck (well maybe not luck, but you know what I mean)!!!

No it's not a racket. It is not uncommon to accept some students over the time period of interviews and to defer a decision on some students until all interviews are complete. Whether someone has been accepted elsewhere is not the root of the issue. There are some applicants that are just plain outstanding and may be accepted to multiple schools- that's not a racket- that's an outstanding applicant. On the other hand your not having received any information might be a good thing since some applicants may be rejected prior to the end of interviews and receive that notification early. At least at this point they haven't said NO so there is still a possiblity of a YES. Just beware of how you might come across in print or on the phone- right now your words could be taken as whiney or jealous of your friend. Yes, it is stressful waiting but you can be assured that this stress is NOTHING compared to what is down the road if you are accepted!!!

Uh, no, some schools, might be less likely to accept you thinking that you have a slot, why not offer one to another diserving person.
