Accelerated Online BSN Program

Hey all! I'm looking for a online accelerated BSN program. I have a BS in Nutrition but no nursing background. I'm in a military family, so I need to be able to move all over as well (while he's training) during my schooling. Are there programs that work with this situation?

I'm finding lots of programs that are online, but you still have to live near the campus. Or I'm finding programs that require prior nursing.

I'm willing to get a CNA license and do that for a while. I have majority of the pre-reqs that nursing programs look for. I'm just struggling to find something online and flexible with my situation.

    Because of the requirement for hands on clinical training you are only going to find programs that are hybrid (online lecture, in-person clinical) or for BSN completion for already registered nurses who received hands-on training during their ASN or LPN training.

    CNAs do not have the same scope of practice as nurses, and while the experience can be very valuable for some one wanting to become a nurse, the hands on experience of being a CNA is not a substitute for skills labs, clinical simulation, and clinical time that nursing school puts students through.

    If you are unlikely to live in one place for the length of time it takes to complete nursing school, you are either going to need to wait until you life settles in one location, be willing to make the sacrifice to travel frequently to the school location during the program, or make the sacrifice to live apart from your husband during nursing school.

    You might want to look at Online University | Online Degree Programs | WGU prelicensure program. It is only offered in five states right now, but the clinical component is condensed into two week periods every three months. As a former clinical instructor in this program, I have students travel to Indiana from Pittsburgh, Michigan, Nashville for Indiana clinicals and successfully complete the program. All didactic content is presented online.
