Abington Nursing Program in PA

Hi there...I'm a dixon nursing student wanna be...LOL...what have I heard? hmm...let's see. I have heard it's almost impossible to get into the school...LOL. I heard they only take 4.0 students with tons of volunteer experience..LOL. I have heard that the program is fantastic, the teachers are wonderful. I applied two years ago but was rejected because I didn't have enough of the sciences completed at that point to be reviewed. I'm currently on early admission review and will know in January. I have put almost all my eggs in this basket so I will be devastated if I don't make it in. I don't know how much of what I have heard is true, but I do know they are very competative. I believe they take 120 students out of roughly 1200 applicants. tell me about yourself and what you know...we'll compare notes...LOL

I also apllied to Abington, and I have heard the same things. I spoke with someone who said my pre-req's need to be done, and I did pass the NLN exam but was told my scores where not competitive enough, so I am retaking another kind of entrance exam. She told me that 455 people have applied and that's not counting people who are applying in january. That's why I applyed to 6 other schools. I know someone who was on their waiting list for three years and finally got in for 2006! I don't know about you but I can't afford to wait any longer! Good luck!

I graduated from this program in 2000. It is MUCH different. My class started with about 27 and we graduated with 15. It was only a day program. We were the 5th class in a row to get 100% on boards. I applied to several schools thinking I wouldn't get into Abington. However, I did and so far it is the best thing I have ever done. This is a hospital based program and I got loads of clinical! My example is my first year we were giving injections and another group of students, BSN ones in there senior year were begging us to WATCH us giving the needles. Don't give up and work hard. It was hard, a tough school but well worth it!! GOOD LUCK!!
