A surgeon from Hell

I never want to hear anybody complain about their surgeons again. Ever. Once you read this, your surgeons will seem like docile little lambs. I read this on http://www.malpracticeweb.com

H. H.,

Plaintiff,

vs

Thomas Murphy, M.D., Murphy

Otto & Associates and St.

Francis Hospital of Evanston,

Defendants.

This plaintiff, who was working as a surgical nurse at the time, claimed that while assisting Dr. Thomas Murphy with his surgical gown on December 30, 1997, he got very upset that his with the fact that the sleeves of his gown had come up beyond his wrists, which necessitated re-gloving and re-gowning and then took the gown and pulled it over Mr. H's head, tried to tie him up with the sleeves, hit him in the chest and verbally berated him by taunting/lecturing him on how he had performed his duties wrong. As a result he further claims that the emotional distress of this incident made him quit his job and take another one with lower pay and benefits. He also says that St. Francis Hospital had full knowledge of Murphy's history of having assaulted other OR personnel and failed to do anything about it.

Case was settled for an undisclosed amount with no particular defendant identified as the payor.

OMG...I hope the nurse got a butt-load of $$$ out of that ordeal...sad that you have to hit folks where it hurts most : their pocket books, to make them pay attention...it never ceases to amaze me the stupidity of people :/
