A & P Classes

Published

The community colleges in my area (San Diego County) only seem to offer Anatomy and Physiology as separate classes, not as one unit. These same colleges require those classes (and not the traditional A&P combination) for their nursing programs. My thing is that I'm unsure as to whether or not I'll be in CA once I finish those classes (we're military so you just never know) so I'm wondering if those classes will transfer elsewhere? Obviously once I figure out where we're moving I can have the transcripts evaluated but I don't want to waste my time either..

Thanks,

KC

It is hard to say whether or not that course will transfer. I am a former military wife, so I understand not knowing about future orders.

I would take the class if interested in the programs there, but best believe I would take all my other pre-reqs first and save that one for last, just in case I had to move.

Should you move to another area that does not recognize that format of instruction, maybe you could "test out" of A&P as opposed to having to re-take it because the credits aren't transferable. It really depends on the school. Good luck.

You'll be fine with an Anatomy class and a Physiology class even though their seperate. Im in CA too, I find it odd how so many places do them as a combo, that would be way to confusing. Anyway as long as you have them both any school will view it as the same. Because even a combo like alot of people on here are doing will have an A&P 1 and a A&P 2. So its all essentially the same.

Usually, anatomy is a pre-requisite for physiology. Isn't that the case at the schools is SD that you've been looking at? If not then just take the two classes at the same time.

My cc does the Anatomy seperate, also. All schools are different and I called to see if I could get into the nearest 4 year school this year instead of waiting for the cc, which begins summer '07 and they told me I needed an A & P class together. The local cc class did not transfer. Had I had the A & P together with a c or better, I could have started in that college and finished at the same time I will at the cc but with a BSN vs an ADN.
