Everyone has their own field that they like to be in. Sometimes you find direction changes after a while and you want to gain experience in another field. I enjoyed working in hospitals but once I started working in the community I enjoyed that as it gave me the chance to get to know patients but also a life I could share with my husband who was not involved in hospital life and not worry about shift work.

hospital......especially for a new grad. it fills in the gaps that nursing school leaves behind and hones your skills........this can later be applied to any field you choose.:)

It depends on whether or not you would enjoy working with other people, or mostly like to work by yourself.

If you don't mind taking care of a large group of patients, you should look in hospital, or LTC nursing. If you want to work alone, without having the responsibility of caring for more than one patient at a time, you should look into private duty, or home health nursing.

I enjoy hospital nursing more, because I like having other people around me, and caring for more than one patient.
