Experience for Interventional Radiology
Hi all! I was looking into a few interventional radiology nursing jobs and am looking for advice from some of you. I am completely interested in starting a career in this area and feel like I have enough experience to learn the job. Ive been a nurse for going on 5 years with 3 years experience on a cardiothoracic stepdown/cardiac telemetry unit (no vents) and 1.5 years experience in PACU (granted it is "lower acuity" with mostly ortho, gen surg, urology, ENT, GYN etc and no hearts or neuro) as well as Endoscopy. If you were a hiring manager do you feel my skills could translate over to IR or should I spend time in the ICU first?

USPHS
Hi everyone, I have a question about the rank structure in the USPHS. I'm considering joining after my time in the Navy. I'm a Lieutenant in the Nurse Corps currently. Will I maintain my O-3 ranking when I join the USPHS? I will have 5 years of nursing experience plus 2 years enlisted Navy experience under my belt when I join. Also, are there any BOP jobs or DIHS jobs in the Houston area for nurses?

Transferring from one duty station to another
Thanks for the info! I had a feeling it would be almost impossible to go anywhere else before the 3 year point. I just wanted to go to a hospital further south a lil earlier. I dont mind Bethesda at all, just wishful thinking on my part. Currently I work on 3W, the telemetry unit. I'm sure we'll cross paths at some point. ENS Foster

Transferring from one duty station to another
Hello all, I am currently a nurse at a Big Three hospital (Bethesda) and my orders have me here for 3 years. Is it possible to have my orders changed to be here for 2 years and transfer to another duty station? I have a four year committment and would like to spend 2 years here and 2 years elsewhere. Has anyone heard of this as a possibility? Thanks! NavLonghorn I guess I should ask the Officer Programs office at work, but it's the weekend. I'll do that on Monday.

NNMC Bethesda
Hi, For any Navy nursees out there stationed NNMC Bethesda, these questions are for you. =) I will be stationed at that hospital upon graduation and I'm starting to do some research on apartments in the area so... 1. Would any of you recommend living as close to the hospital as possible? I've heard traffic can get hectic out there. If so, are there any relatively affordable apartments in Bethesda that a new Ensign could afford? Personally I would prefer to live closer to the hospital if at all possible. 2. How is the professional climate of this duty station? I've heard Bethesda is an awesome place to be stationed. True? Untrue? I'd like to hear the good and the bad so I can know what to expect. 3. What is life like as a new Navy nurse? I appreciate any feedback on this and I thank you in advance.
