  1. Sweetheart, Some injuries do not present theirselves in 24 hours. Most all companies require that you report them immediately......that is a respectable request. If you feel you hurt yourself on the job , fill out a report. Most states give a long range for reporting....example, in Alabama, it must be reported within 90 days......if it is a cumulative trauma type injury, the rules are different....example, capal tunnel......can be reported 90 days from date of last exposure.......dont feel guilty if you are honest....good luck, certified occ health nurse
  2. The probation and stay at home situation will depend upon what agreement your attorney works out with the bon as far as probation and /or " consent order ". Many BON require a certain amt of months of employment in Nursing while on probation. Example: If a nurse had a chemical dependency problem, the BON would want to monitor that Nurse while she was exposed to the enviroment..............not while she worked at the grocery store..... The thing to remember is either way, dont let this matter destroy your self esteem. If you are guilty of wrong doing, remember, we are NOT PERFECT, if you are not guilty, I empathise with you.....I have gone thru a simular thing being innocent..........but if no one believes you and you cant change whats black and white then you just have to go thru the ropes with the knowledge that you know the truth. I am disheartened with Nursing too after my dilemma.......but I am a nurse.....and a very good one......I cannot lose if I dont quit......................My prayers are with you
  3. Sweet Heart, Dont bash your self anymore......I know.....I along with others stripped my self-esttem years ago.......but.....it will be OK.......Chem Eval is a joke.....it is a business just like hospitals and every other business in this world.......they will do anything to say you need treatment......therefore profit...................One thing I know.....ya wont win with the Board............unless you can beyond a DOUBT prove it is common practice......are your co-workers going to stand for you???. You have already admitted you are depressed.....who would not be......I was.......seek counsel for depression now.......not antidepressants unless last resort......if you dont, the depression will get worse when the BON puts you on probation............need someone to talk to.....pm me
  4. I agree with your other 2 replyers somewhat to a point......but dont contact risk mngt................key word....small rural hospital.....who do you think will win?????? You can notify the medical board and ask for annononomy...........thats about your only recourse without demise...........An old E.R. Nurse...................with alot of legal background....good luck
  5. Honey.....Im a 20 yr Nurse with 10 years in employment area.....dont claim to know it all.....I have been fighting a dead end EXPENSIVE battle myself.....but first, check with your state laws before you raise too much stink ( you may have to go back to that hospital one day....even if ya dont want ) .....are you in a " Employment at will state" ......if so....the only way you can do anything is if you can PROVE that the same thing happened to someone else and they didnt do the same thing.............and then, you have to find an attorney to take the case.....which is not always easy........I have a HIPPA violation case......cant find a lawyer within 50 states......no new case law available.......good luck
