I posted something like this awhile ago but didn't get any feedback. My question is would it be beneficial to open a daycare just for preemies? What would be the pros and cons? Is it to much of a liability? I don't mean sick preemies. They would have to be doing good of course.

I think it's not very viable and here's why: Parents choose daycare based on quality (of course) but also on location. So if you're in Beech Grove for example, and the preemie lives in Noblesville- well, they're not going to make that kind of drive twice a day for a preemie day care. It would be really difficult to recruit as well- how would you find those specific clients? No hospital will recommend you( that would be a bad idea on their part) and you certainly just cannot troll medical records for likely candidates.

I've heard this idea floated before, and it just never pans out.

If you want a killer* day care idea- run a daycare for only the children of teachers! You get summers off, can accommodate snow make-up days, and have a very predictable schedule. Not too hard to recruit esp if you live near a school, which pretty much everyone in an urban area does. My friend does this and it is perfect for her.

*Probably not the best word to use in relation to day care, it modifies the word 'idea'! :)
