Med-Surg to ER

hello,

i have an opportunity for an RN position in the ER in one of our hospital's other facility. i been in med-surg for more than 10 yrs...and i'm ready to move on. i know...its been a looong time. I've been soul searching for the past 2 yrs, and its been such a roller-coaster ride. i actually took on a new specialty position in our ER over the summer, but changed my mind after a few shifts...it is a level 2 trauma with 44 beds, 3 triage rooms, 1 trauma, 1 cardiac trauma in the ER dept.

the difference this time, is that this smaller ER sees more of a geriatric population and its not a designated trauma. it has 107-acute beds. this smaller er will stabilize any patients, then transfer them out to the main hospital facility which is a 288-bed facility.

i don't really have any other specialty interests with other floor nursing..i don't have an interest in icu, tele, pcu, or surg. eventually i would like to try clinic nursing or urgent care sometime..any suggestions? thanks for reading :)

What did you not like about the other ER that you think will be different in this one? If you are looking for something new, have you considered switching to PACU or IR? Have you considered becoming a nursing clinical instructor (if you aren't one already)?
