Apr 4, 201412 yr Hi All! Anyone else applying to the part time program at JSCC? I think the apps have to be in by may 12th and the cutoff is around 185. I'm finishing my last prereq this summer (microbiology) and will be applying with 203 points and a 4.0 GPA. I'm hopeful!
May 4, 201412 yr If my math grade comes back like it should I'll be applying with 210! I think you'll be in for sure! Shelby campus? I have a 4.0 too :)
May 4, 201412 yr Author Awesome Junebug! I am waiting on my final A&P II grade which should come in tomorrow. If I get an A i'll have 203 points and a 4.0. I think either way i'm good to go; can't wait!
May 4, 201412 yr I'm taking A&P 2 over the summer... Missing those 30 points hurt but I think my TEAS made up for it
May 6, 201412 yr Author Awesome Junebug! I just found out this morning that I received an A in A&P II so I will be applying to the Shelby campus part-time program tomorrow with 203 points and a 4.0 GPA. According to the nursing advisor at Shelby, in the history of the school, no one who has applied with 200+ points has ever not gotten accepted into the program. I think we are both good to go!
May 6, 201412 yr Woo hoo! Well I guess I'll see you at orientation! Well, unless a bunch of people with 4.0's and 100 on the TEAS swoop in... But yeah, I think we're good! I won't celebrate until I get that call/letter though
May 6, 201412 yr By the way who did you have for A&P 2? I'm taking it hybrid over the summer with *****. I hear she's REALLY good... Tough, but very good at explaining the material. I had ****** for 1. I personally liked them, but a lot of my class didn't. Everybody says ***** is great though
May 6, 201412 yr Author I took **** for II and ***** for I. From what a couple of friends that took **** for II said, **** was TOUGH! ****'s tests were tough but she gives a lot of bonus points. She is very good at explaining the material but she uses a LOT of different venues ie: physio ex, mastering a & p, online study guides, exams, labs... she is good but she is also kind of scatterbrained at times... she can take a while to grade because she has like 5 classes. All in all though, **** was great. She NEVER gets irritated with students and is ALWAYS more than willing to go out of her way to help in any way. She even told us that for the lab exams, if we didn't understand something on the model we could point it out on another model and she would tell us if that is the same organ or not. Take ****, you'll be very glad! Oh, and for her lecture exams, she highlights in red everything she is going to test on so you can actually skip a TON of info and you absolutely do NOT need a textbook. I NEVER cracked my book during her class because her notes are so great. Good luck! You are going to do great!
May 6, 201412 yr Oh wow, thanks for the tip! I'm excited to get back in class! I know that sounds insane but I'm home all day with a toddler and those 3 hours a week at school are my sanity time lol
May 27, 201412 yr They'll tell us at orientation but I know flu, varicella, hep B and TDAP are required. They'll draw blood first though to see if you already have immunity to anything from childhood vaccines or illness (like chicken pox)
