Anyone waiting to hear back from University of South Alabama BSN-DNP Spring 2014

Hello. Wanted to know if there is anyone out there waiting to hear back about acceptance to the University of South Alabama BSN-DNP program for Spring 2014. I applied for the Psychiatric Mental Health Track for Spring 2014

Hi there. I applied to the same program and start date. I think we should hear within 6 to 8 weeks after the August 1 deadline. Is that what you have heard/read? Are you going to do the shorter program track or the longer route?

Jill.

Oh thank goodness. I was starting to think I was alone out here. Yes. everything the same. Next week will make the 6th week. And I plan to do the longer program as I feel it is best so that I do not get overwhelmed. I do work full time as a Psychiatric nurse. What state are you located. I am in Georgia 30min outside of Atlanta.

I live in lower Alabama, about 3.5 hours from Mobile. I, too, plan to do the longer program. I work full time and could not manage the semester with 360 clinical hours! At first I was a little bummed about the time it would take to complete the program, but I realize all I have is time. The time is going to pass regardless. I bet that four years from now we will look back and see that the time actually flew by. Do you know anything about the acceptance rate, etc? I am trying not to let any of the negative things I have read about USA bias my thoughts in any way. I know everybody is different. How long have you been in psych?

Hey there. I applied for Spring 2014 as well. I applied for the Advanced Emergency Nurse Practitioner program but with the same deadline for application. I have yet to hear anything yet, even though it has only been 5 weeks since the deadline. I did not become anxious until this week. Glad to hear others are in the same place, hopefully we find out soon.

Yea your right. Everyone is different and have a different learning style. Some can self manage online better than others some need a little more guidance. I personally prefer online. Been in psych for a year. An RN 3 years first two years were post surgical, med surg type units, did ccu progressive first 6 months, hospice as well prn. Pretty well rounded. Just have a passion for Psych.

I applied for the MSN FNP track for Spring 2014. I'm also waiting to hear something. Hoping for something soon since this Thursday is the 6 week mark!

I applied to the BSN to DNP Emergency Nurse Practioner (fast track) program for this upcoming Spring 2014. Still awaiting to hear back. Does anyone know how selective the programs are or how many students they accept? RN-CEN TS, I did not become anxious until recently as well. I really hope I can get into the program, but am somewhat weary when I read the stats of everyone that's in or applying to the program!

I, too, applied for the MSN FNP track for Spring admission. I have what I believe is a decent GPA, but I am worried about my chances with the minimal RN experience I have. I am currently working in the ED, but I have less than three months experience there. I have several years as an LPN and several years as a Medic, but I'm not sure what my chances are with minimal "professional" experience. Any ideas, or opinions may help to calm my angst! Thoughts?

So good to see other nurses coming out about their wait to hear back. I would say just everyone pray. It is what it is. Your bound to get in somewhere as long as you stay on it.

Hey ya'll! I am so glad this thread was started! I thought I was alone out here too! I applied for the FNP program for spring also! Checking the mailbox every day...

What all have stats have you seen? I have had problems really getting a notion of what baseline is roughly for admission. I spoke with USA about 6 months ago for further information. The only thing they had to offer was 3.5 for dual emergency program and better than 3.5 GPA for FNP. I have 2 years ED experience and I am a board certified emergency nurse (CEN), soon to test for certified pediatric emergency nurse. My GPA is 3.5 with 190 hours of college course work, nursing was my second degree. I hope I will get in but am planning to continually buffer my curriculum vitae with another board certification, more experience, and authoring policies and procedures for my ED which shows competent and evidenced based practice which I think would look great on a VC. Anyways, all that said, nothing we can do but wait another week or so until we all find out.
