im seeking licensure in california but im from chicago, im a foreign nurse and i dnt have CGFNS, i read in this site that its ok to take licensure in the sates of california, florida, new york this part i know BUT IT INCLUDES CHICAGO......can anybody clear this to me please....i appreciate so much.

Hope this helps. I'm not sure what CGFNS is but as far as reciprocity I don't believe Illinois has reciprocity with California. I know WIsconsin does but I'm almost positive Illinois doesn't.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh and I think California is a walk through state, you can get your liecense the same day with the correct documentation.

Are you currently licensed in the State of Illinois? If so, then you need to apply for a license by endorsement in California. That means that you fill out a California application and then have the Department of Professional Regulation in IL forward your licensure information to CA. This enables the Board of Nursing in CA to verify that you have passed NCLEX, and that you have a license in good standing in IL. You do not, to my knowledge, have to retake NCLEX, regardless of where you plan to move. The licensure exam has been standardized nationwide for over 20 years, eliminating the need for nurses to retake the exam when they move from state to state.

There are states which participate in the nursing licensure compact, which means that they accept each other's licensure. IL is not one of them. I don't know about CA.
