Hi Everyone,

I took the Nclex RN exam for the 2nd time last Wednesday and failed on 204 questions

1st Exam: i studied using the Learning ext. Hurst. and failed with 265 questions. I thought life was over. I cried and feel ill due to failing the Nclex.

2nd attempt: pulled myself together. did the online Kaplan review. Question trainer 1-7 average 58%, Qbank average 54% and I failed on 204 questions.

I don't know where to start my studying from. I got the Statement of performance for the BON today. I plan on using that to prepare for my 3rd attempt.

I got hired as a Nurse Technician few months ago. I feel so ashamed of myself to sit with my boss and tell her i didn't pass my Nclex the 2nd time. I don't even know how to tell her i failed again.

My plan is to resign or get a leave of abscence (if that is possible) for the next 2 months and focus on studying.

please I need advice on how to prepare for my 3rd attempt. I want the 3 attempt to be the last one.

Any advice will help.

First of all, things happen and we're not perfect. I personally thought the NCLEX was a DIFFICULT EXAM. Do not beat yourself up over it, it's like a big crush to your soul but it's not the end of the world, remember that. Stop, breathe and give you yourself a break for a bit. If you are feeling overwhelmed, upset or defeated at the moment, I would say give yourself some time to yourself. Pray, sleep, go hang out with your friends and family or whatever puts your nerves at ease. Breathe.

What do you think are your weaknesses? How did you study? Give an example of what your study day or study schedule looks like. I would tab my books and focused on topics I didn't know. The topics that I felt like I knew, I went over them in the end. Study and take breaks. Do not cram everything all at once. I did questions over and over again even though my grades seemed pretty low to me. Once my grades became consistent, I felt a little more confident. I also prayed and had amazing support from family & friends, which made a big difference. Don't like the result of an exam make you feel defeated. You can sit there feeling sorry for yourself or get up, build your confidence and take another go at it.

Don't beat yourself up because you're not alone!!! The NCLEX wasn't an easy exam. There were several questions I came across that had terms and medications I had never heard of. I think the "trick" to passing is practice, practice, practice. You cant remember everything, but the more practice questions you answer the better off you'll be when you sit for the exam.

I didn't take a review class. I used NCLEX 10,000 (online program) and Saunders (yellow book). I basically took off from life for 2 weeks and answered questions around the clock - many people aren't able to do this, I know, but I'm trying to convey the time and dedication I put in to studying. By the end I probably completed 5,000 questions. I think by answering so many questions I was able to make 'better' educated guesses on the more difficult questions. My test shut off at 75 questions and I passed.

@Ebonyfy - You are human and these things happen! Most importantly, you have to take ownership of your results and that would include speaking to your supervisor. Do not resign without giving the job the benefit of the doubt. On one hand, they would have been losing a tech anyway once you passed your test, on the other hand, your job as a tech has only been enhanced by the skills you acquired in the nursing program. The license is not required to be a tech.

Now for the test. @Ekikk had an excellent suggestion. While preparing for my LPN NCLEX, I used the two banks of questions provided by NCLEX review books. You eventually hit a saturation point with the material. So, on that note, I always assumed that I would not learn any new material post graduation. But your personal test taking skills will be greatly enhanced by simply answering question, after question, after question...

Failed the Nclex!! The worst day ever ! I went to take my nclex got there early then I didn't see it said no ids only usa passport, so I had to go bck home for it . By this time my anxiety level was thru the roof. I got there just in time . I was about to cry took the test and did the trick and I failed . I feel so bad, I don't know where to start now.

I tried registering and it took my money . I am devastated .
