Can anyone tell me what a typical day is like for the Second Degree program at Mount Carmel School of Nursing in Columbus OH? Is it 5 days a week 8-5pm? Are there breaks in between semesters and if so is shorter breaks or normal breaks? Also, I see the cost is up around $33K. I maxed out my federal loans on my first degree. Any idea on ways to get some extra money to help pay for it? A lot of questions, I know. Thanks for your responses!

Thinking of a 7 quarter ADN program at CSCC..but I'd really like to just do the BSN!

powernick50 i saw your response about the adn program at cscc. i also looked into that program, but the advisors told me there is actually a year waiting period to get in. she said it's because they are switching from quarters to semesters and they already let in everyone for the next year. so---what is a 2 year program may actually take closer to 3 or 4 years. it is a heck of a lot cheaper than other schools in the area, so if you have the time to wait for the program to start, it is probably worth it. that being said, i actually applied to mt. carmel's 2nd degree program as well. from what i understand, you do get breaks in between semesters at the normal times (around christmas etc), but i have been told the class hours can vary quite a bit, especially when it comes to clinicals. hope that helps :).

Go for the BSN. With Magnet now wanting 80% of floor nurses to have a BSN by 2020 you'll be glad you did it. OSUMC and Children's are hiring BSN only now. I'm sure other hospitals will soon follow. If you go ADN you'll be doing a RN-BSN program as soon as you graduate and potentially without a job to help pay for it.
