I'm going to meet with someone from Delta college of arts and technology later this week about the LPN program there. I'm in louisiana, and the program is 15 months and cost 22,000.

Lately, as the appointment is getting closer and closer, im starting to reconsider my options. $22,000 is expensive it seems like for an LPN program. The school is accredited, but i'm still not sure if the lpn credits will transfer over to an lpn-rn bridge program. Has anyone ever attended Delta? I would love to hear opinions on the school and what not.

Right now, I'm thinking in the long run, attending BRCC for the RN program would be a better idea, and less expensive.

Honestly $22,000 is A LOT. I think BRCC is a better idea. I can't put work off that long, and since I have credits from LSU, I wouldn't get financial aid from them. I opted to do the LPN program at CATC then bridge later when I'm more financially stable. Total cost is around $5000 and they do give me financial aid that covers it. It takes longer (21 months) because that campus added prereqs that LTC doesn't require.

Oh and usually the credits you earn obtaining your diploma for LPN won't transfer anywhere. Bridge programs give you credits for LPN licensure and experience.

I'm in the same boat, I cannot really put work off for that long, and I know the RN program is tough. I have a child and work, and really think the LPN route would be best for me now, and eventually RN.

I liked the fact about delta because their classes were 4 days a week, 8-3. What is the schedule like at CATC? And the waiting list?

There is a LTC closer to me, in gonzales but there is a year wait list.

The first semester classes are 8-1(it varies by day) and 10-12 on Fridays. As far as I can tell, they try to keep about the same schedules each semester. There is no waiting list. I actually walked in Dec. 14 and got an application, took the Compass placement test Dec. 15, the HESI on Dec. 19 and started classes Jan. 12. But the earlier you start the process, the less likely it is that it will fill up on you. The Gonzales and West side campuses don't enter a new class every semester like BR does because they are smaller (I think). But people are commuting from all over in my class.

Im glad i came across this page . I was told @ Delta there LPN program was a bridge to RN . Hmmmm. I was intrestead in going there til i realized 22,000 is TOO much for an lpn . It is shorter then most programs though. I think i may stick with CATC or go to my local LTC , they are alot cheaper .... LONGERRR but i gues thats ok .
