I am hoping to start my prereqs this fall and then apply to some local BSN programs. I haven't decided between an evening part-time program and the traditional program. I have heard that getting CNA/student nurse experience is really important before receiving your degree, but i would really prefer to just get the degree as fast as I can and then work. I have little kids and am currently a SAHM and I feel like working and doing school would be really stressful and most of my income would go toward childcare expenses anyways. Do you think not having any experience in healthcare will be a problem when looking for a job?

It is definitely a huge plus, but I know quite a few people who did not have previous healthcare experience and still got hired no problem as a new grad.

The good thing about working as a CNA or PCT or NT at a hospital is that in most cases, they will give a job offer to you - after you go through the proper interview process of course. The hospital I used to work at as a tech considered their techs for the RN positions first before extending interview offers to those who did not work for the organization. I had 3 RN interview offers while I worked there as a tech, but because I was moving, I had to decline them.
