electronic medical records

The office is switching to emr in May, does anyone use emr and if so how it is working out. Some older nurses are worried about using the computer for everything

Thanks

I have been thinking about this and think that it would be great if I had a computer at my desk. I could type alot faster than writing. I think that I would document more of my small conversations with my patients and keep better records. I have even thought about telling the hospital that I would be willing to be the test nurse if they want to try it. I know that my one doctor would like it and maybe even both of them. I am for it.

I would LOVE an EMR at the office. We have it at the hospital. I can type much faster than I can write lol. It will be a long time before we have an EMR at the office, I'm afraid. Keep us posted how it goes!

And reassure your seasoned nurses that they can handle it - nursing isn't for sissies and their longevity in the field probably means they're tough and smart. No computer will get the best of them :).

My old boss switched to EMR about a year or so after I started working there. He wasn't 100% paperless, but it made a big difference in how the office ran. Personally I loved EMR and keep dropping lead hints at the office I'm in right now.
