hello!

i just took the hesi today and passed with flying colors! i have been done with all my pre reqs for almost a year and kept putting off the hesi, even though i know it will be quite sometime on the "hurry up and wait" list....i just wasn't ready because my hubby had just come home from a year deployment.

anyway, here i am ready to meet with ---- on tues to get my name on that darn list. since i will be waiting some time, i have decided to make the 'best' of my wait by getting a study group started. hoping to start nursing school ahead of the game. i am so terrified of becoming "dumb" in all my time off, ha!

let's get a group of individuals together who are in waiting as well.

i read about some text books in a thread here that would be beneficial. i think renting these books would be beneficial since we aren't certain that we could use them when its our turn. i also intend to ask around on here for more titles as well.

what would make you and me successful is being truly interested, having the time, and commitment. also alotting a few hours of study time per week.

it would be great to get together once or twice a week. glendale, goodyear, avondale, peroia, luke afb areas all work for me. i am considering starting a meetup group on meetup.com how can this not be beneficial to all on the list?!

I am in Avondale, and am on the waiting list for the FTPN program at Gateway. What books would you recommend to use for studying while I wait? I have already waited 1 semester, so I hope that I will be placed in the Fall or Summer if it is offered this year.

You are the first who has showed interest. I do not know anyone else in AZ personally that is on the wait list.

Have you taken a Patho class yet? I really do not want to take that class right now but will more than likely take it as I feel my time is approaching just to do it as it is not a pre req.

I'd like to start with some NCLEX study guides to get my brain trained in some critical thinking .

the reason to get the CD and not the book, is I have the books, but they are black and white and the 3 books cost more combined than the CD itself which has all 3 books in it.

You will love it. It makes understanding nursing school at little easier.

just my two cents... you will benefit by taking pathophysiology and med terminology classes in the time you wait. these will give you a major head start in your nursing courses. i understand you are super eager to study nursing material and get on it, but try to make the most of your time by taking these classes, getting all of your co-reqs done, and if you plan to get your BSN, take the additional pre-reqs for those. and most of all- enjoy your life before you start, because for 4 semesters you will have NO LIFE. seriously!

I have a degree in another area, so I have taken most of the co-reqs and pre-reqs. I am taking BIO 202 now, but still have to take Micro. I plan on taking Micro over the summer. I am a teacher, so I will have lots of time over the summer to study. The only co-req I have left is the Micro.

I will go ahead and purchase some of the materials that you mentioned. Did you take patho online or in person? How about the terminology courses?

I agree about the med term too as I've heard that before. I actually took med term 2 years ago because I was set up for another NSG program before we relocated here. I do want to brush up on that for sure!! I will definitely be taking a patho class maybe next spring??

As far as co-reqs...Done!and for ASU's RN-BSN...I'm a little lost these days. I thought all I still needed was the Stats class once I'm done with my ASN?? Someone told me differently the other day, I need to check. In any event, I took that Stats class last semester.

I've been done with all of Maricopa's req's for about a year. Just taking this time to enjoy my family and my life. I am even taking 30 days this summer to practice my yoga and become certified to teach...I'll be in the Bahamas!! WoooHoo!!

the pathos class I plan on taking is online through Maricopa unless I get lucky and get a spot in one that works with my schedule.

the med term class I did online back in NM at Clovis Community College. they are super affordable and the instructor is great! that's what I recommend to everyone.

I just bought the first book I mentioned for about $25 and the disk I'm searching for for less that $65.
