I've been trying to look into things, but it's been a little difficult finding all the information I need.

I'm interested in possibly going to school in MA (Boston area) for a CNS or NP degree, maybe someday get a job in another state if we move in the far future. Is it as easy as getting a new RN license in another state? Or are there more complications like taking another exam that is needed?

My sister in law learned the hard way-----get experience in your current state as an NP BEFORE moving to a new state AND find out the new state's requirements for obtaining a license BEFORE moving there!!! Don't assume that one state's licensing requirements are the same as your current state's....

She passed the NP boards in her state but did not work as an NP, figuring she would get an NP job in her new state.....When she moved to her new state, they wouldn't issue her an NP license because she did not have the hours worked in her original state as an NP needed to get licensed by endorsement in the new state (meaning not taking another exam in the new state). She moved back to her original state to obtain the required experience needed for the NP license in the new state...

Why she didn't check the NP licensing requirements before moving to the new state, I will never know--but it is a lesson learned...
