REALLY? where would this be?

Where I work......NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nu-uh....not for INDUCTION!!! NOT rectally. ONLY PO or IN THE CERVICAL Fornix.....

The rectal use of cytotec is reserved for pp hemorrhage only where I work.....

I cannot figure why anyone might use that (unpleasant) route for routine induction when you have the other two?

Also, we use cytotec for CERVICAL RIPENING, NOT INDUCTION...if the cervix is RIPE, we go straight to pitocin. As rich in blood vessels as the rectum is, I would think we would hazard too-rapid absorption this way...and very unstable result, in an already unstable/unpredictable drug. This is for emergent/urgent use only.

I would want the doctor/midwife to put this in HIM/HERSELF if they chose this route for cytotec in a pregnant woman. I would NOT do it.

We recently used Cytotec rectally for a 13 weeker with no found heart beat. Initially 600mcg was used per lady partsl fornix, then another 400mcg-then another. Finally about 18 hours after the start of this heart breaking long drawn out procedure, Cytotec was placed rectally. She delivered shortly there after..
