Hi,

I must admit...I am a "starry-eyed student" who can't wait to get into nursing. I do dream of "perfect patients"....not rowdy, easy to please, thankful....etc., and fantatastic co-workers...helpful, considerate....do things the way they should be done.....

However, in reading some posts, I realize this may not be the norm out there. Can some of you please give me a real perspective of the good and bad you experience in your career (especially LPN'S...as I will be doing this first before going on for my RN). Also....will you tell me what states and facilities you work in. I currently live in Minnesota, but can't stand the cold, and plan on moving to a warmer climate (first choice is Florida) when I get my license. I am open to moving to anywhere warmer, hence the reason for wanting to know where everyone works. One last thing please ....I would love to hear from travel nurses as well.....I would love to be a travel nurse once I get my experience. How many LPN travel nurses are out there?

There are particular forums for LVNs and for Travel Nursing on this BB where you are more likely to find specific responses to these questions.

And BTW, Forida has one of the lowest payscales for nurses in the US. Check out http://www.salary.com for more information.

Don't be crazy!! Go for the RN. Why waste time going for an LPN just to turn around and go to school to be an RN. Just go straight into RN school. I am sure that most LPN's who have turned RN would say the same.

I would go for my Rn if the wait wasn't so long. I have talked to various schools, and there are waiting lists until the fall of 2005 (I live in Minneapolis) I can be an LPN by that time. I already have quite a few pre-reqs for RN classes completed from a previous degree. I am an LPN classes now. I figure I can get my LPN, (I'm just itching to be a nursenow :) then go into a LPN to RN program once I move out of this freezing land.
