I hope someone can help me.I'm currently a CNA in Kansas but I'm planning to move to chicago pretty soon.Can somebody please tell me if I have to redo the class or just the exam to get Il certification?Any info about where t do this will be greatly appreciated

The best place to begin is with your current employer as a CNA. The administration will be aware of either what you need to do pertaining to your transferring certification or point you in the direction of who to talk to that will know. Hope that helps!

Contact the nurse aide registry in your home state (It's located at the Dept. of Public Health) and request an Application for Enrollment By Reciprocity. This means that you are asking the new state to recognize the approval you received from your home state.

Make sure you ask them if you should send the completed form to them or to the state to which you are moving. You may be able to fax your request directly to the state you are moving to rather than to your home state.

Also ask what items you will need copies of to fax or mail such as driver's license, social security card, current certification etc.

It will be up to Illinois whether they accept your Kansas credentials. I googled and got the Illinois info. It looks like they are pretty lenient.
