Housing in Houston

Does anyone have any info on the 4444 Westheimer Apartments (aka: Westcreek at Highland Village Apartments)? They are right inside the 610 Loop in Houston, Tx.

My daughter will be moving in there soon and since I'm across the country in CA and can't get there to see them for myself I thought I would do the next best thing and post here. Who better to ask about housing than the people who travel the most and have seen (and been placed in) every kind of housing imaginable. You are the experts on the best and the worst.

Obviously, I'm most concerned about the safety of the complex and surrounding area, but also about the cleanliness, management etc.

Any info you have would be greatly appreciated,

CJ

I live in Houston and that area is safe (but your daughter should still be cautious, it is a big city!) and there are lots of great shops and places to eat very close by (about 40+ restaurants within 5-10 minutes) and it is an upscale area. I have known a few people that lived at the particular complex, with mixed reviews. One of my friends had ongoing maintenance issues that went on for the duration of their lease, but I currently have a friend that lives there and loves it and has had no issues, so it is a crapshoot.

I am not telling you to alarm you but so your daughter is aware and has "more of the story", but there was an odd incident there in the fall. A local tv reporter lived there and "supposedly" someone made him to to Lufkin or Port Arthur (both 3+ hours) and go to the assilants baby momma's house (and she didn't want to see him and sent him on his way) or something and was let go. However (and this is where it gets fishy), he was unable to give a description of the house he went to, unable to say where they stopped for gas, etc...last I heard nothing came of it, but the general consenus was that it was a bs story. I ONLY tell you so that if your daughter hears a mention of the story and gets freaked, she knows more to it...

I live about 5 minutes away from there and feel safe and I live alone and I have lived in this part of town for close to 20 years and I love it here. Tell her to use caution walking to and from her apartment, at night especially, and NEVER leave her door unlocked (like if she is doing laundry or checking her mail, etc).

If she has any questions on stuff to do, places to eat, etc tell her to send me a pm and I will be happy to help her out!
