I have been an RN, ADN for 1 1/2 years and now am looking for an online BSN program. I work full time so I don't want to push mself over the edge. Does anyone have any recommendations? Schools and programs that you would recommend and schools to avoid. All comments are appreciated!!!

My suggestion is to look at local universities in your area and see if they have an RN-BSN program. Many schools are going online now. University of North Carolina, Kent State, Texas Tech, University of Texas, SUNY, and University of Kansas are all popular online programs. I would stick to programs that are associated with a real brick and mortar school. Also check on NLNAC website to see if the school is accredited. I would avoid the University of Phoenix, Walden University, Excelsior, or any of the over advertised schools. If there isn't a real campus to back the school up I'd avoid it.

Chamberlain College of Nursing.....Friend of mine at work is doing it right now...She works full time with a nasty commute and says it is doable...I am looking into it myself...Good luck to you!

I recommend online programs thru a state school. They are generally cheaper and the money stays in your state, plus your employers are familiar with the schools.

UofP, University of Phoenix, is an actual school. They have a real campus. They were one of the first to have an ADN to BSN program online. Don't discount UofP. I am currently in the ADN to BSN for this school. And it is rough. This program is not the cakewalk people think it is.
