Hello to all, im new this forum and just wanted to ask a few questions. i reside and go to college in GA but i want to be a nurse in FL and wanted to know if all i need to do is take the FL state boards to be a nurse out there. I cant wait until i graduate. I is the salary for a nurse is $45,000 to $55,000? Do nurses do all the work while the doctors just do research on the illness/problem with the patient and prescribe prescriptions?

As for the original questions: whether you graduate as an ADN or BSN prepared nurse, you still sit for the same national licensing exam, the NCLEX-RN (commonly called the 'boards'). There are no State boards anymore; one exam is used nationally therefore one test is administered regardless of the State in which you wish to work.

HOWEVER, whether you qualify for a license in any one particular State is up to the State BON. While you don't need to re-take any exam in order to get an endorsement to your license (you don't get a new license, just an "add-on"), you do have to meet the criteria for licensure in that State.

Please check with the Florida State BON to find out if you will have everything you need for licensure in FL by the time you graduate from your GA college. If not, you'll have time to get it done.

As for "nurses doing all the work" line of questions, I think you'd do well to read through the threads on this website: obviously, it's not as simple as you've stated! There are different scopes of practice for medicine and nursing, so....there are similarities and differences. Neither one does "all the work".
