Hello everyone... Im courting a filipina in Philippines whos 23 years old. She will take nclex-rn in the philippines this year. I plan to marry her in the future. Im thinking of the K-1 visa since our love is true. Im wondering what is the best way for her to work in usa in california?.. Im thinking if she gets a hospital to sponser her she will be under the hospital foot in all ways plus low pay?.. Im thinking if I do k1-visa after she pass nclex she has no big problem as far as being paid a low amount compared to a hospital sponsers her?... im confused if she has to do the english exams, and visa screen certificate with a k-1 visa etc?.. Anything else im missing she might need?...

Be aware that you have only 90 days to get married in and then she gets a provisional green card for only two years and then it needs to be renewed.

If she is going to be petitioned by a hospital, then she is looking at five years plus for a chance at a green card. The salary that one gets under the green card is the same as one would get if she were an American. But a bigger issue is that you will not find any hospitals that are willing to petition at this time because of the retrogression.

If you truly wish to marry her, then proceed that way. If not sure, then do not. We have seen many that have come over here from there and the marriages have not lasted the two years. Unfortunately, many have done it to get the green card, that is one big reason that the US only grants a temporary green card and for only two years.

Coming over here on the K-1 visa and it has nothing to do with nursing or anything else. You also need to prove that you will be able to support her with your salary.

She will need only to pass the NCLEX-RN exam to work in CA as an RN once she has gotten thru immigration and has a SSN# assigned to her, be aware that she will not get that immediate either when she arrives here. It will be months before she will get it and be able to begin to work.

Even if she does not need to take the English exams to work here, her language skills must be very good or she will not get hired for a hospital job. Please make sure that she does not accept any job to work here before she gets her SSN# or she will be subject to being deported.

Yes im aware we have only 90 days to get married in usa/california. To even get the visa k-1 that takes about 6 months itself about?... Yes, true she gets a provisional green card for just 2 years and within these two year she must file a paper to remove "condition"?...then she must wait for the "US permanent resident green card" which last about 9-10 years during this time she can apply for naturalization if she wants to be U.S. citizen? I hope im right so far?... I do plan to marry her for life.. I myself am sure she is not after a green card since she does not wish to leave the Philippines. Thanks for the advice on that topic. Yes Im also aware I need a job that can support a her/family. Im also aware the k-1 has nothing to do with nursing which is why I need help since my future wife will pass nclex-Rn and live in california. So from what I understand once she passes nclex-Rn in the philippines then after 6+ months of the k-1 visa to process.. Once she arrives in usa/california we get married in 90 days which will take care of the provisional green card. So what does she have to do from this point on to be able to work as a Rn in california?.. get a SSN#? english exam, visa screen certificate, and I read someone from this site about a cc** something?... Or can she do some of these in the philippines?...

On the topic of petition from a hospital this is out of the question right now since no one is willing correct?.. I think im confuse about salary, so if a hospital petition you to work as Rn in california. The salary is same as if she got a k-1 visa then ** later works as RN?

Please read the facts in the US State Dept Bulletin, there is much wrong with the information that you have. There are specifics there concerning the K-1 visa and the requirements for it.

Question for you? How much time have you actually spent with her since you have been in school here and she has been in school there?

Please be aware that at your age, nothing is necessarily for life and that is something that the US government is very well aware of. Please also read the Primer at the top of this forum for information on what needs to be done to work in the US.

I will read the us state site. For the last 10 months I have been to the ph once which is the most recent. Next week I will be going back again to the ph. We have know each other for about 4+ years. The Primer at the top of the international nursing section is one started by you?...

If you have only seen her once in the last ten months, you are going to find it difficult to get approval of the K-1 visa to start with.
