legal question...

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I was recently layed off with only two weeks' notice; the story being that the facility is closing. My question is: doesn't the facility's owner have a responsibility to give the employees more notice? If so, what recourse do I have? Also is there a site where I can find a list of attorneys that handle such types of cases?

Thanks for any help/advice/ideas you may have.

Don't know what the laws are in Texas, but I kind of doubt that an employer is obligated to give more than two weeks' notice if the entire place is closing. Bottom line is there won't be a place to work.

It's unfortunate, but sometimes that's all the warning people get, if they even get that much. It isn't unheard of for employees to find out they're out of a job when they show up for work and find the place padlocked.

Sorry this happened. Good luck with finding a new (and perhaps better) job.
