Briefly mentioned to me in class our last lecture was LVN intern license . . .

At first I wasn't interested in paying the $250.00 so all the information given to me went in one ear and out the other. I thought I would be okay with working as an aide after graduation . . . but working these past few days as an aide . . . Umm . . . . . I don't know how to say this without sounding cocky or cold . . . . I feel like I have come so far to be working as an aide. I'm really considering that intern licence.

What I want to know is; How do I get it? How long does it take to get it? What can I do under an intern license? Do I have to work directly under some one as I did in school . . Or do I get to begin working as I would an LVN?

As for the other questions . . . .

I will be working as an LVN at the same place that I have worked at for the past five years as a CNA. I have made so many friends. The enemies I have made no longer work there (most of them anyway). There are a few that have trained me as an aide. Although they are people that I have grown close to over the years . . . I have a fear that they will have difficulty with the fact that I have moved up. I have had long conversations with a few of the aides that nothing changes as far as friendships go. . . but I will have different duties when I become a nurse.

I know some will understand this, but there are others that won't. . . .Confusing enough yet?

It's not that I want to be "above" anyone . . . especially my friends. I just want to be taken seriously as a nurse, and I don't want to end my friendship with the CNA's.:uhoh21:

I guess that wasn't a question. I'd just like a few pointers. I know there are others out there that have been in my situation.

The only thing I can recommend, taking all things into consideration, is that perhaps you can try working there and see how it goes. If you are not happy there, or taken seriously, you can always go somewhere else. Yes, it would be in a strange environment, but at least they won't see you as anything but a nurse. I can't speak to the intern situation, but here's my two cents.
