department versus school

What is the difference between a School of Nursing and a Deparment of Nursing?

I am applying to nursing school this fall and was looking at Sonoma State (CA) as a choice, but I realized that it is a Departemnt of Nursing, not a school of Nursing. The degree earned is a BSN. So what is the difference?

Thanks for any help you can spare!!

It's just how the University system is set up.

Department of Nursing is usually within another college or school, such as the school of health sciences, or something similar.

School/College of Nursing means that nursing operates separately/has its own dean (rather than just a department chair) and doesn't share resources with other majors.

It really doesn't make any difference at all. You don't get your degree from the nursing school/department anyway, you get it from the University (Sonoma State in your case).
