Hello to all. I will graduate with my BSN this May. I have been working as an extern in a busy CCU (almost all ventilated pts., many vasoactive gtts, Swans, etc.) for 6 months and have accepted a job there when i graduate. I am aware that several variables affect getting accepted into a nurse anesthesia program. My question to you SRNA's / CRNA's is how dependent is grade point average alone in determining acceptance into a program. I feel that is my weakness. My cumulative GPA is a 3.12. I have a great respect and interest for the field of nurse anesthesia and was considering starting to apply at 1 year. I plan to apply at several schools. Any input on my chances of getting accepted is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. :wink2:

GPA is part of the package. Depending on the program, the interview is probably the most important factor. This is where the instructors/director will see how you handle yourself under stress and if your personality works for them. Take your GRE and start applying (I actually started applying before I took my GRE...).

My GPA was not so hot, and I am now in my third month of CRNA school. You have to build up the rest of your application to make up for the GPA. Get a good score on GRE, get your CCRN, get good reccomendation letters, strong experience, and think about taking some grad level classes (especially if you can take them at the school you are most interested in) to show that your undergrad GPA is irrelevant.
