I am halfway through Nursing School and I realized I am one math class from earning an associates in social work as well. I was going to take this class online over the summer but was wondering if it would help at all in striving for a case worker type position?? Thanks for any info or advice!

Are you more interested in nursing or social work??? Regardless, both professions generally require a bachelors degree at minimum. Social workers freq seek Masters education.

Also several years experience as a nurse is a usual prerequisite for a case MANAGER-type position. Additional educ in social work will not help much for entry level positions in nursing as you'd be entering the nursing pool with the same basic, fundamental skillset as a gazillion other new grads.

Perhaps if all your stars are in celestial alignment, you might luck into a CM position and your SW educ could possibly be a resume asset.

Now in reverse, if you're seeking more of a social service route, a nursing background prob will NOT be of much assist. Entry level nursing education prepares nurses with more of a skilled care, hands-on task oriented foundation. With experience, nurses pick up on the fine details and ins & outs of medicare/caid, insurances, needed support services, disease processes, etc.

As I see it, they're 2 different professions with SOME mutual interests, but with major different foci. JMHO
