Is it possible

Is it possible to get carpal tunnel from rotator cuff surgery? Never expirenced symptoms of carpal tunnel prior to surgery. Symptoms following rotator cuff surgery include coldness, numbness, pain, inability to close hand into fist and fingernails growing at faster rate than nails on other hand. The shoulder is great.....

That sounds like a neurovascular problem. How recently was your surgery? I would definitely recommend reporting those symptoms to your surgeon immediately. Take care.

The surgery was 2-3-05. This has been reported to the therapist as well as the MD....had nerve conduction study by one of his associates and he made the dx of SEVERE carpal tunnel. I have never had ANY symptoms before surgery. He was wanting me to have surgery ASAP for carpal tunnel until I told him I was getting another opinion from a different neurologist. He then siad "I don't know why this happened". That in itself seems a bit leary to me. :uhoh21:

I don't know if this is true or not but when I was taking anatomy, I remember my instructor saying that a lot of times carpal tunnel originates from the shoulder area, not the wrist.

have you considered impingement syndrome? im clearly no expert just a thought though.
