I am currently looking for a site and a preceptor for my MSN Nursing Informatics practicum and I am having no luck. I really need help, suggestions for sites and advices for my practicum.

Responses will highly be appreciated.

Many organizations (including mine) are no longer accepting any 'one off' practicums due to cost and liability issues. This is a huge drawback to the "choose your own adventure" programs that claim you can do practicums in the location of your choice.... and apparently, they're not doing a very good job of informing prospective students about the problem because my organization continues to receive inquiries on a regular basis.

Your program should be able to provide guidance - do any faculty members have contacts in HI? Have you contacted any of the major EHR vendors such as EPIC, Cerner, Meditech, etc.? They employ nurse informaticists that may be able to help you.

Hallo there, i am in your shoes too. I have delayed 2 quarters now looking for a preceptor. Very hard to get and Walden University is not providing any individuals or organization for preceptorship. Now i understand why. I have tried organization such as HIMSS and ANIA, still no luck and no one is emailing me back. But keep trying like the health IT, IS, HIT, in the hospital. The problem is that i know a lot of them but they are not masters prepared, they are certified only. That is the biggest setback. Good luck.
