I passed the exam over a week ago and thought I would share what I used for those that are currently preparing for the exam. :)

I started with the Pediatric and Neonatal Critical Care Certification Review by Gaedeke. I bought this book for $18 off of Amazon. It has a lot of questions and rationales. This book is so OLD but it helped and it was recommended by another nurse who also passed her exam over the summer. It is a very good book! After I would review a topic in that book first, I would then move on to the AACN Pediatric CCRN online review by Kathryn Roberts. There were six lectures that were 2 hours long. I listened to the lectures twice. My last review source that I used was the Nurse Builders Pediatric CCRN Review book. Yes folks, I used 3 different sources because I wanted to take this once and study for it once. I studied for about 60 days. I dedicated an entire week on the big topics like CV, Pulm, and Neuro. I hope this helps any of you thinking about taking this exam!!!

If you are thinking about it, just sign up and set a deadline that works for YOU and just be realistic. What really helped me was that I didn't tell anyone at work.

There are a minimum number of clinical practice hours worked, not including orientation, in a specialty to be eligible for the exam. Hours must be in the care of a single patient population (adult, pediatric or neonatal) matching the exam for which you are applying. Under Option 1 the minimum is 1750 hours, with half of them in the year during which you plan to write. You can find more information here.
