Wound Management

Hi there,

Im heading back to placement on Monday and haven't been out on the wards in a while. Ive been on mainly medical placements so far but am going to a surgical one this time. One of my main conerns at the moment is wound care. Im ok with asceptic technique, but i need some advice for wound assessment. What are the main things I should be looking out for? How do i know the intervals for dressing changes? When should I change a type of dressing etc. Has anyone come across any good articles that i can have a look at that would maybe give me types of dressings as opposed to the brand names i see in wound charts on the wards.

Thanks,

RT:typing
