Working too much with school, what to do?

So I recently started a part time (two 12 hour midnight shifts a week), while full time in nursing school. I am in my third year, so I have medsurg, pharm and all that fun stuff. It has been about two months working this job, which I love, but it is burning me out. Its manageable, but barely. I assumed that everyone did part time but at my university it seems that everyone does contingent. I am not sure what to do, as I don't feel like I can continue working this way but I just started 2 months ago...I know that if this job was all I was doing, it would be much more manageable... But with school it is just too much for me, personally. I talked to my manager about switching to 1 day a week, and she seemed annoyed about it... What do you think I should do? Should I drop the job and work elsewhere (even though I LOVE this hospital?).

P.S, I will be qualified to by a nurse tech by the end of the semester, is it worth looking elsewhere if a nurse-tech position isn't available on my unit?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I would try to keep the job since it will help you when you do become a nurse. I would see if you can finish this semester strong and see if you can go PRN. I want to start nursing school in the summer but I have two small kids that require childcare in the summer and I know I wouldn't be able to keep my full time job. I plan on looking for something were I can work a couple hours a day or work PRN. If you go to school during the day see if you can work at night if you can. I am not a night person so I know I would do bad working nights and then turning around to go to school.

I hope all gets better for you
