Where to take NCLEX?

Published

I am graduating from a program in Minnesota in just 7 weeks. My plans are to move and work in Wisconsin.

Options: Take the NCLEX in MN and then apply for WI license by endorsement.

Or move and take the NCELX in WI.

Is there any reason to take it here in MN first? Thoughts?

Hi nicbasti08! You might want to try first with your school. I had a fellow classmate who knew she was moving to another state (non-compact) after graduation so the school set it up that her results went to the state she was moving to, thus obtaining licesure for her new state of residence.

If that doesn't work, call NCLEX and ask them what they recommend. Or, sometimes already licensed RNs pay a transfer fee if you will when moving to a new state so long as they have proof of licesure from the state they are moving from.

Good luck!

You can apply for licensure in one state but actually take the the exam in another! :) You apply to a specific BON/RB for licensure and they grant the ATT. Once you have that, can then go to any Pearson Vue center, including outside that state. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, I've made those calls and found the process...I probably didn't ask my question clearly.

I'm more enquiring if there is a benefit to taking MN and then WI. :D

I think the endorsement route would take longer overall... there is no difference in terms of the test itself, it's a national standard. :)
