What now?

I had an interview with last month with an NM . It went really well and they called me back 2 weeks later. The NM said that HR will be contacting me with an offer shortly. I met with HR and the recruiter told me she is offering me the job and that it was ok for me to put in my notice because orientation will start shortly. Long story short, I have given her all my references and all the paperwork they need from my current HR has been faxed to them. The HR recruiter has been sending me emails about things that I have already sent her, to which I responded to politely. She also has sent me an email that was not for me but to another person with the same first name, but different last name! When I met with her she seemed very confused about who she was meeting with, what was going on, and what papers I have already given her. I am so disgusted and disappointed because I expected a highly sought after hospital to be more organized and on top of everything. Now I will have to extend my resignation at a place (LTC) where everyone's license is in jeopardy every time we work there, because of this hospital's irresponsibility. Does anyone have any experience with hiring processes like this and incompetent recruiters?

Wait. Your post has me a bit mixed up. You have to resign from the first place or the new one? Why would that be the new place's fault?

It definitely sounds like they got you and the other person with the same name mixed up.

Yea they did. But I am farther along in the process than the person the email was intended for. I basically have a verbal offer but am waiting for confirmation of the written offer.

It is the new places fault because she told me I could put in my notice because she is offering me the job and orientation will start soon. I just need paper confirmation, that is all. Next time I will just wait for the official offer before I jump the gun. I would rather them wait on me to finish off my notice, than for me to wait on them, not knowing what is going on. Cannot trust anyone it seems. Smh and the one time I do, things turn out like this.

Oh yeah, that is a lesson that can be learned the worst way. Never quit until you are Rock Solid at your new job. You don't want to end up with no job at all.

It sounds like they mixed up your info with someone else's and now have to straighten it out. I hope this is just a minor problem for you and the rest of your job turns out great.

If worst comes to worst I will extend my dates at the old place.

Thank you, I hope so too.
