Has anyone taken this program through the Metropolitan State Univ.? I found it on the WOCN.org website so it is accredited. I like the fact that it is online but wanted to get feedback on the program.

Please let me know!!!:D

i just finished this program. it is very intensive! each course is three weeks. there is a large amount of reading to do in each class. weekly quizzes and a final at the end of each class. they require 50 hours of clinicals for each scope you are taking. are you going for just wounds or all three?

i already have my wound care certification so i will only take the ostomy and continence part. are the courses offered at night? i work full time. did you work while you took it? when do you take the exam for the wocn? they said most times the preceptors for the clinicals don't charge anything. did you find this to be true? any information you can give me would be very helpful. thanks!:specs:

I did most of my work at night. There is one live class a week they stronly encourage you to be at. It is online and you listen and talk on your phone. It is interesting.

My preceptor did not charge me but I knew her. Although I do not believe she would charge anyone.

I have not take my national exam yet. Iwas late turning in my case study(another thing you have to do) so I missed the deadline. I will be sitting in January.

I forgot to add:

The course info is available 24 hours a day so you can do your work when you want to do. I worked full time the whole time. Getting the reading done can be a little bit hairy though.

You may need to take some PTO time to get your clinical time in. I did not and it cost me dearly!! I had to pay a hefty extension fee and now I have to wait to take the cert exam.:banghead:

Hello! this is the course I am looking to take! I am trying to choose between this on and another one in my area. I actually live in Washington state, and university of washington has a wonderful program, but it is very hard for me to go up to seattle for two weeks to work with the preceptor due to my husband is military, and we have small kids. so I thought this program would be better since it is all online, and if I could find a preceptor that would let me do the 50 hours with them. I work home health, and I case manage my whole patient load, so I can find the time I need. I want to just do wound nursing, and contract myself out. and stop this oncall, weekend work. It is hard when you have a military spouse that leaves sometimes at a drop of a hat! and do not have family or babysitters to help out when your work wants you to work!!!

How hard are the tests? the papers, and the boards? I do "good" I think when I do my hands on patient care...but I do get test anxiety. anyways!!!

I am glad to see more people that are actually going into this program.

thanks!

Bebop,

I really tried to outline the program above. It really is completely onliine. The tests are hard but fair. If you have questions call up to the school and talk to them. It is a good program!
