UVA-Charlottesville

Does anyone have any thoughts, ideas, facts or opinions on nursing at UVA-Charlottesville, VA?

Particularly the Labor and Delivery dept.

Thanks, I appreciate any information.

Don't know about their L&D unit, but I worked in the PICU and absolutely loved it! I found it to be a great hospital! Sorry I don't have more info

From what I HEAR...it's a great hospital. IDK but I know I will be there starting July 1st. Are you going to work there? I'm moving from Charleston, SC and nervous about Charlottesville....if anyone has any input, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Charlottesville is a nice area. It is a college town. The hospital itself is really great! I loved it. I commuted an hour to be there, unfortunately, I left because I got into a car accident driving from night shift. The hospital that I work at now is okay. It is an academic research center, but if living in Charlottesville was an option for me, I would definitely be back at UVA.

Just my 2 cents

thanks alot! is it a pretty fun/decent town to live in? im really sad to leave charleston..

I commuted, but it was really nice out there, and again, it is a college town, and they have a lot of events. I'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck.

I've lived in Charlottesville for about a year and a half now and I love it here. It is a college town, like someone else mentioned-the town really embraces the school. I really enjoy it because it's not huge and congested, but has almost a progressive, hippy vibe to it if that makes sense. I start at UVA next week as a nurse aide on a general floor, and my husband is a med student there. I've heard only positive things about the hospital itself.
