Hi there! I have been on this site a few times before but today finally joined up :) I have an important question in deciding on how I want my nursing education to go, and if you have any information for me please let me know!
First off, a brief background: I am 29, with a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design. I work in the automotive industry and therefore I have no medical background whatsoever but I am passionately interested in pursuing nursing as a way to really help people. My mother is a nurse so it's sort of in my blood I guess? :)
I am currently taking classes at Brookhaven for pre-reqs, but upon researching it looks like it would be better to get my Bachelor's right off the bat instead of getting my ADN then trying to find a job in a hospital before finishing out my BSN which was my original plan. I have no connections to the hospitals around Dallas, as I have only lived in the area for 5 years now, which will make finding a job more difficult.
I am looking into the 15 month program for the accelerated BSN at the moment at UTA, and the main question I have about it is about the online aspect of it. For anyone who has done the online portion, how were the classes? Did you have all the information you needed readily available and feel like your teacher was engaged in helping you learn as quickly as possible (ie give you more information than just putting a few powerpoints up on Blackboard)? I am new to online courses as well; the course I am taking right now for A&P I is online for the lecture so I am just learning the ins and outs of it. I do work online everyday with my job, which isn't exactly the same but it is similar in that I research things online and learn new techniques and information for my job online. Do you think I would face difficulties adjusting to the everything is online except the clinicals part of it?
Thanks in advance and greetings to everyone :)
