University of St. Thomas ABSN - Fall 2024

Hello, I just recently been accepted to UST Fall 2024 ABSN program & I wanted to create a thread to connect with others that have been accepted. ?

Hi! I have not been accepted but plan to apply for the Fall 2024 cohort. If you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA and HESI/TEAS scores? I got an 85 on my HESI my first time taking it which isn't great but it's passing! And I am right at a 3.1 GPA. Do you think I have any chance at getting in? I applied at Lone Star but unfortunately did not make it into any of the programs so I'm putting all of my eggs in one basket with this one! I plan to retake Microbiology and A&P II asap so hopefully that will bump my GPA a bit!

Hello! I would speak to an academic advisor if anything because the academic advisor I spoke to gave me details on what I needed to do in order to be accepted into the program. That included me retaking one section in the HESI and making sure I had GPA above 3.0 after the Spring semester. So since you have a 3.1 GPA, I believe you should be OK and my HESI cumulative was an 89%. Just make sure each section is above 80%. If you need to retake the HESI, they allow you to take as many sections needed on their own so you can have an above 80%. I'm currently retaking Microbiology now & passing with a B along with taking College Algebra which was required for their program. Don't be discourage about not getting accepted into the ADN programs. I had two declines from two ADN programs last year then this year I received my acceptance to St. Thomas ABSN a few weeks ago.

Hey! I just got accepted into the Fall ABSN program as well! Any idea when we will be receiving more information regarding registration? :)

Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of St. Thomas ABSN program!  It's an exciting journey ahead, and connecting with fellow students is a great way to build a supportive community.

For those planning to apply for the Fall 2024 cohort, it's essential to focus on improving your application. Your 3.1 GPA is a good starting point, and retaking Microbiology and A&P II can certainly help boost your GPA. As for your HESI score, an 85 is passing, and aiming for each section above 80% is a solid strategy. Remember that academic advisors can provide personalized guidance based on your specific situation, so reaching out to them is a great idea.

And to HLocalD, don't be discouraged by previous ADN program declines. Sometimes the right opportunity comes at the perfect time, as evidenced by your acceptance to St. Thomas ABSN. Keep pushing forward, and congratulations again!

As for Melissahxdz, welcome to the Fall ABSN program! While I don't have specific information on registration timing, I recommend keeping an eye on your official university communication channels. Typically, schools send out registration details closer to the start of the semester. For my time in nursing school, someone from the upper cohort had created a Facebook group so we can meet our fellow classmates, and also get some insider information from the upper cohort about the program, so maybe they will do this with you as well?

Julia, thank you so much for the information you provided on here! It's greatly appreciated. I think creating a fb group is a wonderful idea. I'm going to go ahead & make one so everyone can meet each other through there.

Melissahxdz, Congrats on your acceptance! I have no clue either but I did reach out to admissions through email to get more info. I will be creating a fb group for all of fall 2024 cohort. ?

Thank you so much! Congratulations on your acceptance!!?

Hey guys! Sorry another question lolll for those that have been accepted for the most part how are you guys paying for tuition?! Thank youuu?

hi guys! congrats to people that got in! I just accepted and set my email up and everything. I was wondering if someone will be reaching out abt more information regarding orientation and stuff like that?

Hi there! Well supposedly we should be getting an email from the board of nursing for us to complete & orientation will begin in August. Not sure of when the exact day will be. This is what I was told from the advisor. Also, I created a fb group for all of us labeled as "ABSN UST Fall Cohort 2024" ☺️

okay thanks! ill make sure to join the group ?

I am waiting for my acceptance. I have a 3.7 GPA and my Overall HESI score was a 90. I really hope I get in! For those of you who are in the program or have graduated from the program, I have some questions.

1. When do clinicals start, and how often are they?

2. What supplies do I need?

3. Are classes online? How often are you on campus?

4. Can you buy your scrubs from anywhere?

5. How long did it take for you to get an admissions decision?

Thank you!
