UMSL's BSN part-time program

Published

On UMSL's website it says they have a BSN part-time option. This may be a stupid question but if I would do the BSN program I'd still get my RN right? Would I have to wait until I get my BSN to take the NCLEX and get my RN? Right now I'm at STLCC- Meramec woking on my pre-reqs; I still have micro and anatomy to do. I'd stay here at STLCC and get my RN but with a sleep disorder (DSPS) to where I'm wide awake all night and tired durng the day, going to day classes is impossible for me. I had anatomy 1 (which was ok) and honors micro. (which I LOVED) this semester in the morning but had to drop them-I was falling alseep in class. I still have my night classes-biology and math. i'm doing pretty good in those right now.

Also if you did the BSN part-time program at UMSL what time where classes held at during the week and weekends? thanks.

thank you for your interest in the college of nursing at the university of missouri - st. louis! yes, all three of our pre-licensure bsn options (i.e. traditional, accelerated, and part-time evening/weekend) prepare students to take the nclex-rn examination after graduation.

the spring 2011 semester is the first semester the part-time bsn option has been offered so days and times could change. currently, lecture classes are offered monday and thursday from 5:30pm-8:30pm. once students start taking classes with clinical or lab components, days and times will change. whenever possible, i always recommend that transfer students schedule an appointment to meet with an advisor here in umsl's college of nursing, to get further information about our program and for us to review your previous transcripts to determine your eligibility. call umsl's college of nursing at 314-516-6066 to schedule an informational appointment.

you can find more information on the part-time bsn option at: http://www.umsl.edu/~nursingweb/academic/bachelors/parttime.html. otherwise, please feel free to contact me directly if you have any further questions or if i can assist you in any other way.

thanks!!

yes, you would still get your bsn. of course since it is a bsn program, you need more pre-reqs than you need at community college.

THANKS for the info about UMSL.

So far I'm aware of 2 State Universities with part-time BSN programs.

(State Universities = lower tuition than Private Universities)

1 = UTA = University of Texas at Arlington

2 = UMSL = University of Missouri at St. Louis

Anybody that knows of others... feel free to add their .02 cents.

THANKS
