I am a UK registered nurse and have recently been accepted onto the NZ Nursing Council register.
It took 9 months to get to this stage so glad I managed to reach this point.
But my problem is when to go. I know it is up to me to decide when to go. I have two options. Either I aim to start work this September or I wait till next year starting just after March.
I want to do some travelling before hand about two months. I was thinking if it was September I went out then I couldn't travel but just go straight for work. However, if I went travelling between October and November then it would be next year March I could expect to find work.
It seems long to wait till next year but then I get more time to plan and not rush as aposed to starting in September. At least I could hand in my notice so I end work in Sep and go do my travelling and then start looking for work from Feb onwards. But then again there is the gap from Jan to the time I would go to work in NZ. I could go to my old employer and ask bank shifts they are always desperate for staff and have said they would take me it till I go.
All seems okay but I just feel like I am only delaying things.
If I go in September I feel rushed but if I go next year I go with planning and time on my side. But then there is never enough time. If I go next year it will be a year till I was registered and I think my goodness that is a long time.
I would appreciate your thoughts on this?
I am single, no kids or house to worry about. I have flexability.
Thank,
Simon
