UFV Jan 2021 BSN

Hello readers. Just curious if there is anyone out there whom is or has officially applied for the 2021 January intake for the BSN program @ UFV and what your experience has been thus far?

Me, I am working hard at my upgrades. I never thought I would be in my mid 30s and going back to Bio 12 and Chem 11 but here I am. I am working feverishly to get my classes done before Aug 15 as that is the last day your transcript has to be updated to meet the prerequisite requirements. I did and still do find this whole process overwhelming. When I met with the advisor at UFV she told me: English 12, Bio 12, Chem 11, and Math 11, come in with straight A's. I initially kind of thought, really??? Maybe I still do. I had a B+ in English 12. She recommended to pull that up to an A. So I am doing Chem 083 through UFV and Bio(now called Anatomy and Physiology) through online school district. I would be curious to hear if anyone else out there is considering or has applied and how your venture has been so far.

Take care!

Hello!

I'm currently finishing up my prerequisites at UFV and have started my application for January 2021! I'm in the same boat in terms of the English 12 Grade, I also finished with a B+. I'm currently doing English 105 in hope that I can score a higher grade in that course! My venture started last September, I did Bio093 and Engl099 at UFV, then last semester did Chem083, Soc101, and I am just finishing up Fom11 at Bakerview (online format). As it stands right now, I'm applying with an A+, A, B+ with one mark pending. If you need any help with Bio093 or Chem 083, I'd be happy to help!

Good luck to you!

Cheers

Katie

Hi Katie. Awesome to see someone in the same boat. I am 2 weeks into Chem 083. How did you find the course? Any advice going forward? I am curious if you did English 099 at UFV, why did you have to do English 105? I am doing the English 099 right now, and knock on wood, so far so good. How did you find the course? I am also doing Foundation of Math 11 at Abby Virtual( not sure if this is the same as Bakerview) however I have not started yet. I do not want to be doing too much at one time, however seeing that the Aug 15 deadline will come quicker than I would like. Hope to hear from you. Cheers!

Hello Jon,

I really enjoyed the course with Raji! She was amazing, and was thorough! My advice going forward would be to really pay attention in the online lectures, and study! I am doing English 105 as an elective course as it's needed during the program! English 099 wasn't bad, but I finished with a B+. I'm hoping to finish 105 with an A so it will overtake my B+!

As for the FOM11, I'm sure their similar! Tips for that one is also study study study!

Cheers

Was your Foundations of Math all online too? It might be the same as I am doing. I think I may seek out a tutor for it. Math has never been my strength. How did you find the marking in 099? I really need to get an A- to A+ in that otherwise it was all for nothing. I had a B+ in English 12 and only doing this course to get a higher grade.

Did you do the Chemistry with Raji in class or online?

Both FOM11 and Chem were both in class courses until the COVID pandemic. They were moved online though, math has never been my strength either! A tutor may not be a bad idea, its worth it and gives your the opportunity to improve!

The marking in 099 was fair, I messed up on the final exam which brought my grade down from an A to a B+. Definitely possible to get an A in that class! I had a C+ in English 12 in high school, however I did not study at all in high school. That why I redid it haha.

For 099 I think its an essay as the final?

My teacher had us write an exam, an essay will make it a lot easier for you!

sorry I just checked it does say Final Exam(includes an Essay)

No apology needed! Regardless, I think you got this! Make sure you study the literary terms, I had a bunch of those on my exam! Hopefully you get a good writing prompt, I didn't get a great one and I feel that impacted my end grade.

I am more worred about the Chem and Math.......

I wouldn't even know where to start on finding a Math tutor

I believe UFV has tutoring, its online through myUFV! Definitely a good place to look, Chemistry isn't too bad! Just make sure you're studying regularly for it! Do you have the textbook?

I think you have to be doing the class through UFV for the tutoring?

My FOM11 is from Abby Virtual.

I did get the Chem textbook. It is not the regular hard cover book. It is sheets that are holepunched and go into your binder.
