UAB Accelerated MSN program for people who do not have a nursing degree

Published

Hey allnurses community, I'm trying to get thoughts on what other nurses think of the Master's degree program for those who are not nurses. My plan after high school (several years ago) was to become a nurse and eventually a nurse practitioner, and I screwed up, listened to other people (some nurses and some not) and here I am several years later still going to school -most of those years as a pre nursing major but did not have the courage to go all the way despite knowing I can do it. I regret not going to nursing school earlier. I'm determined to graduate (because it's upsetting to have several years of school but no degree and pay for it) and just recently learned about the accelerated msn option for those who have bachelor degrees in fields other than nursing- Hope rekindled! So now that is out who else is also trying to go through this program that has a degree in a different field and how do other nurses view this way of becoming a nurse. Is there hostility with other nurses who see this path as a way of bypassing the traditional way to become an rn?
