Trying SO Hard

Published

Ok,

I've requested information and for a recuiter to call me back several times via the Navy website.

I am doing my pre-reqs and want to see where I stand and what needs to be done to become a nurse in the Navy.

I can't go enlisted so for now I'd like to do nurse cadet and if that's not an option I'd love to go the officer route.

Any advise?

Tips?

Call a recruiter yourself. If you want it, keep trucking along.

Thanks... I did already they said they'll get back to me... I guess everyone and their mother is military-ing up...

I am having the same problem. I will begin my senior year of my BSN this fall and really want to join the Army Nurse Corps. I can get a recruiter for the enlisted to call me back and try to get me to join as a medic (uh no!). However, I cannot get an AMEDD recruiter to return an email or phone call. I have been calling for 2 weeks and I know I have sent 4 emails. I don't understand.................

from what i've gathered from my recruiter, and other peoples recruiters, is that they are b-u-s-y. often times health care recruiters cover a large area. for instance to visit my recruiter it is a 6 hour drive into another state. he covers recruits who live in approximately 5 different states. if this is something you really want, just be persistent or perhaps look into a different branch and see what they have to offer you.

thanks for the info! my father-in-law is a retired colonel and apparently he knows who to talk to because i am meeting with a recruiter today. but for those out there still trying the fiscal year is coming to an end and most of the slots for nurses are already taken. the fiscal year starts over in october so just be persistent. good luck to all and if i learn anything today, i will post it.

Sorry just now posting what I learned but it was nothing to be excited about so I just ranted to my family. So the AMEDD recruiter said that basically the Army is cutting out recruiting new BSN graduates. The Army needs NPs not RNs. He said that my state (TN) only has 5 slots available for RNs and those are reserved for applicants who have had years of experience in critical care etc. So if you want into the Army as a nurse go to graduate school or wait 5 or more years until you have the experience they desire. Yes I am bitter bc I am not a fan of rejection. Well not total rejection-I can come in enlisted as a Medic. No thanks! I don't know if the Navy is any different. Let me know if you find anything out:)

I am in the same boat. I am due to graduate in May with my ADN and really want to try to get into the Navy NCP for my RN-BSN. I have called 2 or 3 different recruiters and only one call back - that I missed and went to voicemail!! I still haven't been able to figure out if any of the ones I called were even medical programs recruiters either. I know there's a lot of applicants due to the economy, so I am trying to get answers early on.

Just keep trying! The fiscal year starts over in Oct and I have been told that is the best time to contact them. I just received a packet from the Navy with my local medical recruiter's info (thought I would give the Navy a shot). I ordered it from their website. Let me know how it goes and I will keep you posted from my end.

Well what I might end up doing is double majoring as a nurse and also major in military science... it's not the navy like I wanted but it's military...

I finally did get a reply from an officer programs recruiter about the NCP, and was told that this FY is all done with, and next year's (FY '11) will likely fill up by Christmas. Since I won't be graduating til May, he said my best bet was to put in a package for FY '12. So for now I just keep chugging along :D
