Trying to get back into work force after 3 year break

Published

I am desperate for information! I have been a nurse practitioner, adult primary, since 2007. I work until 2010 at a neurology MS clinic in NYC, but had to take leave after being out on bed rest at 14 weeks with my twin pregnancy, then had to stay home to care for my preemies, only to,get pregnant again.... And subsequently moved to CT to be closer to my husbands job. I have not worked or renewed my license or certification in 3 years (although I feel like I work 20 hr days..lol) now that my kids are 1 and almost 3, I am ready to get back and dreaming about a part-time job in CT. Does anyone know how I can refresh my knowledge on the basics, and exams, and how I should proceed? I not only need to get licensed in CT, but don't remember the basics and need a course to refresh my memory and go over latest advancements. Any advice or suggestions would be so appreciated!

Specializes in Psychiatric Nursing.

1st. See what you have to do to renew your certification. Was it ANCC or the other one. You may or may not meet the practice requirements. Check the web site

Go to CT board of nursing web site to see about getting a license by endorsement

As far as refreshers I don't know. Call colleges I guess or see about volunteering. Ie Red Cross, doctors office etc. read the newest books.

Best wishes..
